About USIP The USIP is the official World Police Sport Union and recognized by the International Olympic Committee(IOC). One of the tasks of the USIP is to promote and encourage sports within all police forces on all continents of the World. The USIP also has the tasks for the primarily organisation of the Official World Police Championships in different sports disciplines. The World Police Championships are held every year – according to the calendar of events – in the following disciplines: athletics (cross country, marathon, triathlon etc.) , judo, cycling, shooting, team and other police related sports. All our championships and events play an important role in deepening knowledge of the culture of different countries and to encourage a fit and health style for police officers. The Champions and events as well are an arena for the exchange of professional experience between police officers from all over the World. Another goal of the USIP is creating opportunities to further develop the friendly and professional relations between the various police organizations from all continents. To realise this the USIP organises conferences and seminars to exchange knowledge and experience about security, community and professional police practises in sport and other events.
Sport to Serve and Protect!
Cooperation with other sport organizations The USIP cooperate with several police sport organizations like the USPE (Europe),the APSF (Arab Police Sport Federation) and the UDEPP ( Pan-American Police Sport Union). Sport calendars from all these organizations are in balance with each of their activities. This brings the athletes a lot of possibilities to join sport on several sport grounds. Thereby the USIP has an MOU with other worldwide sport organizations like the IJF ( Judo), WKF ( World Karate Federation), ANOC (Association of National Olympic Committees) etc.
Social sport projects The USIP is involved and has encouraged social sport projects in several parts of the World with the USIP “Hold my Hand” foundation. On several locations in Brazil and Ethiopia police officers founded sport projects with support of the USIP to connect communities and people with special needs with the police by sport.
The Congress – highest authority of the USIP
The Congress of the USIP takes place every two-years. For participation in this event, each member country has a right to be represented by the authorised delegates. All votes of the USIP members have equal weight no matter the size of the country.
The Executive Committee
The USIP is run by the Executive Committee. This Executive Committee consists the representatives of different member nations. The Executive Committee consists the following members: the President, three Vice-Presidents, the Secretary General, the Treasurer General, the Chairman of the Technical Committee and the assistant Secretary General who has also the duty as Director of the Presidential Office.
The members of the Executive Committee are elected by secret vote for a period of 4 years.
They can be re-elected twice.
The Technical Committee
The Technical Committee (TC) is responsible for creation of the competition rules applicable to the various sports disciplines. The TC has a right to appointment the organisers of sports events and supervises an organisation of the World Championships in respective sports disciplines. Elections to the Technical Commission are governed by the same provisions as elections to the Executive Committee.
Offices of the USIP: The headquarter of the USIP and residence of the Secretary General is located at Castle Staverden in The Netherlands.
The Presidential Office is located in the capital city of the State of Kuwait, country of the USIP President.
