ABU DHABI – 12-18 – the USIP Vice President Brigadier Muhammad Al-Dhaheri, and The FINA President Dr. Hussein Al-Musallam signed today, Saturday, a Memorandum of understanding MOU aimed at strengthening relations between the two parties and strengthening cooperation with international sports organizations.
This came on the sidelines of the FINA extraordinary Congress meeting, which was held at the Hilton hotel on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, and coincides with the activities of the World Swimming Championships, which concludes its competitions next Tuesday. The signing of the MOU was attended by the Deputy Secretary-General of the USIP, Colonel Khaled Al-Najjar, and the technical director of the Public Relations and Marketing Committee of USIP, Colonel Tariq Al-Sadani.
In this context, Colonel Al-Najjar said that the agreement came under the directives of the President of the International Police Sports Union, General Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Sabah, based on his continuous keenness to upgrade the police sports activities and support USIP members to reach global platforms.Al-Najjar added that the agreement based on the general strategy adopted by the USIP President to encourage and invest the energies of police personnel and their participation in sports activities and tournaments, as sport has positive factors for police personnel in performing their security duties, whether psychologically, healthily or physically.
He pointed out that the agreement includes providing technical support, exchanging experiences, preparing workshops and conferences, rehabilitating coaches and players, and investing facilities of Olympic swimming pools to hold sports tournaments on them.
He pointed out that this agreement is part of a series of agreements previously concluded by the USIP, including the International Olympic Committee, the Olympic Council of Asia and the International Judo Federation.
