Sao Paulo 6th of November 2013. The USIP delegation visit today the 18th Batalion of the São Paulo Police, home base of UDEPP Secretary General Marcelo Rezende. The Police station is located in the North Area of São Paulo where 700 Police officers serve 2 million citizens. The USIP delegation was welcomed by the Police chief of the 18th Batalion Colonel Wagner Dimas who gave explanation about the tasks and duties of his Police officers in this hughe living Area. A big part of the North of São Paulo consisting the Favelas now better known as the Communities.
About 20 years ago criminality and violance were big issues in the Communities. Now after many years of working on social projects between the Police and the Community it is now a better and saver living area.
The USIP delegation visit one of the locations in the Community where they attend an presentation by a coordinator of the social workers about their cooperate work with the Police in this Area. The 10 different social projects covers sport, self defense, activities for youth, cultural activities, music and other important topics. The Police is even involved in the preparations of the marriage between the people of the Communities to assure that the children of the communities will get a safe home base for there future.
Sport is for the children an important topic to avoid that they will end up in criminality and to learn to have respect for each other and the society.
The USIP delegation was very impressed from what they have seen this day.
“A perfect initiative and great example for other Police forces in the World who are struggeling with social problems in difficult neighborhouds . Also a great example that sport is an important tool in society” so declared the members of the USIP delegation afterwards.
The USIP delegation consist: Secretary General Sandro Dirckx, director of the Presidential Office and deputy Sg Lt. Col Khalid Aljanar, General Treasurar Col. Abdulrachman Al Haqqan and Lt. Col Tariq Al Sadanni head of the USIP Public Relation and Protocol.
